for soprano and piano
This work for soprano and piano was composed in 1987.
It are 3 songs on poems by Hans Andreus:
‘Ik heb je liever’ (I like you more)
‘Wanneer ik morgen doodga’ (When I die tomorrow)
‘Voor een dag van morgen’ (For a day like tomorrow)
In this expressionist work, the different emotions of the poems are evoked by various voice techniques.
The accompaniment of the piano has a supporting, colouring and suggestive character.
In 2009 the songs were translated in English for performance at Wigmore Hall in London (02/01/2010) by the South African soprano Erica Eloff and the young English pianist James Baillieu.
