MAKYO

for marimba and string orchestra / marimba and piano / marimba solo



MAKYO was commissioned by the Convivium Musicum Orchestra in 1990.

Wim Henderickx also made a version for marimba and piano and for solo marimba.

Makyo means a mysterious dream experience.

The solo marimba has free, nearly improvisational parts, followed by strict metrical notation and vice versa.
The work has a free, rhapsodical form.
