for recorder quartet or sax quartet
IN DEEP SILENCE II was commissioned by the Flanders Recorder Quartet in 2002.
This composition is the second in a series of intimate works for chamber music with silence as a source of inspiration.
In 2019 he made a version for sax quartet.
Seven parts have the following titles: half conscious, tender, with desire, devoted, expecting, with joy and emptiness.
The work is based on the question how to deal with time, on how the listener experiences time in this composition. The composer is trying to give the impression of a timeless state, time that stands still.
In 2010 Wim Henderickx rewrote IN DEEP SILENCE II for flute, accordion, violin, viola and double bass, commissioned by deSingel in Antwerp.
In 2012 the version of IN DEEP SILENCE II for flute, clarinet, violin and cello premiered with Zvezdoliki Ensemble on the occasion of Wim Henderickx's 50th birthday.
