GISHORA

for soprano saxophone and 7 African drums

The original version was written for TRUMPET AND PERCUSSION, a commission of the Flemish radio KLARA in 2009, for the ART FOR LIFE-action.

The name GISHORA (hill) refers to a place in Burundi where sacred drums are kept.

This version was commissioned by Sax & Stix with premiere at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam in March 2012.

In 2019 Wim Henderickx made a version for PICCOLO AND PERCUSSION.
