for trumpet and 7 African drums
This work was commissioned by the Flemish radio KLARA in 2009 for the ART for LIFE-action.
The name GISHORA (hill) refers to a place in Burundi where sacred drums are kept.
KLARA organised a public sale of 3 works of art, this composition by Wim Henderickx being one of these.
Proceeds of the sale by auction went to the battle against malaria in Burundi.
The highest bidder received the original sketches of the work on December 21st, 2009 at the KLARA-studio and a live performance of the work by soloists of the Brussels Philharmonic (VRO).
The buyer received a printed version of the score, dedicated to him.
In 2012 Wim Henderickx composed a version for SOPRANO SAXOPHONE AND PERCUSSION. In 2019 he made a version for PICCOLO AND PERCUSSION.
