ELEGIE for piano was composed in 1989.
The work was written for the memory of victims of terrorism (in this case the hijacking of a plane in Lockerby).
The obsessive rhythm in some parts of this work create an alarming and anxious atmosphere.
The more ethereal parts are meant to give some hope.
In 2024 carillon player Luc Rombouts made a version of this work for carillon, in close collaboration with Wim Henderickx's musical assistant, Diederik Glorieux,
