AFRICAN SUITE

for soprano saxophone and percussion

The original version of AFRICAN SUITE was written for VIOLIN AND PERCUSSION in 1992. In 2010 the composer wrote a version for VIOLONCELLO AND PERCUSSION .

And in 2022 he made a version for PICCOLO AND PERCUSSION (especially for a recording of the Solar Duo, CD release 2023).

In AFRICAN SUITE for soprano saxophone and percussion (2007) two instruments, which represent two different cultures too, are confronted with each other.

The work is a mixture of Western melodies and African rhythm.

By the use of a rhythmical ostinato pattern with changing measures and by placing erratic rhythmical accents in a steady metre, this work has a very inciting character.
