for violin and percussion
In ‘African Suite’ (1992) two instruments which represent two different cultures, are confronted with each other.
In 2007 Wim Henderickx rewrote this work for SOPRANO SAXOPHONE AND PERCUSSION.
In 2010 the composer wrote a version for VIOLONCELLO AND PERCUSSION and in 2022 he made a version for PICCOLO AND PERCUSSION (especially for a recording of the Solar Duo, CD release 2023).
The work is a mixture of Western melodies and African rhythm.
By the use of a rhythmical ostinato pattern with changing measures and by placing erratic rhythmical accents in a steady metre, this work has a very inciting character.
