SACRED PLACES IV (Preparing to pray)

for recorder, pan flute, viola, accordion, percussion and electronics

SACRED PLACES IV (Preparing to pray) was composed for Black Pencil, commissioned by the Visisonor Foundation in 2019.

The work exudes an introspective and meditative atmosphere. Seven musical episodes merge into one another without interruption.

The exceptional combination of instruments inspired the composer to explore new compositional paths. The music remains calm and melodic throughout the work with a predominantly consonant harmony.

The electronics act as a harmonic space, a kind of musical canvas above which the instruments dialogue.

The spatial notation in the score (spatially composed, without bars) gives the musicians a great deal of freedom, so that the synchronization between the instruments is less precise and the music radiates a sort of unboundness.
